  • understand straightforward information that is explicitly stated
  • skim and extract key points from straightforward texts
  • distinguish between key points and supporting detail in straightforward texts
  • understand some details of the text
  • understand some ideas implicit in the argument
  • develop ways of coping with unfamiliar language and situations
  • identify basic elements of genre, purpose and audience
  • understand the vocabulary of the instructions in examination questions
  • understand and use a variety of tenses, interrogative words and pronouns.
  • The text-handling responses are assessed according to a paper-specific markscheme. The maximum mark for paper 1 is 40. The student is assessed for his or her comprehension of the texts, not for language skills. However, if the language used by the student impairs the communication and makes the answer incomprehensible or ambiguous, no mark can be gained for that answer.

    R= Register (formal/Usted or informal/tú)
    A= Audience (who is going to read/listen my text?)
    P= Purpose (why I am writing this?, the answer use to be a verb: to inform, to advise, to persuade, to announce, to express my feelings, to recommend...)
    0= Vocabulary (from what topic you will get words/terms? Education, health, pastimes, nature, etc)

    THEY ARE WORDS OR PHRASES USED TO CONNECT OR TRANSIT FROM ONE SENTENCE TO ANOTHER, THEY ARE USEFUL TO ORGANIZE THE SPEECH AND THEY GIVE ELEGANCE TO YOUR WRITING, SO USE THEM!

            Sin embargo ..........................................  however

    Some adverbs ending in - ly (-mente in Spanish), ex:  especialmente, principalmente, rápidamente,
    etc.

    -ask how he or she is doing
    - information required by the task
    -give your phone number 




    HOW TO WRITE AN INTERVIEW?

    When you are writing an interview, make sure to include:

    - Title (Título)
    - Introduction (Párrafo introductorio)
    - Greeting (Saludo: Bienvenido, ¿cómo está)
    - Q & A (Preguntas y respuestas)  ¿CUáL ES...CUáL ES...CUáL ES...?
    - Thank you expression (Agradecimientos)
    - Conclusion (Conlusión)
